I have a question regarding players that receive penalties in tournaments.
I recently watched a high profile poker event on television where they gave a player a penalty for dropping the f-bomb.
The tournament director gave the player a mandatory penalty, and then the player was dealt out but his blinds were posted.
Is it normal procedure to deal the penalized player out or should the dealer continue to deal the player in?
Thank you

Hello,
What about a player making a wrong raise but under 50% of the normal one (150 raised to 200 for exemple)? It seems that the “new” Robert’s rules of poker (if used in your house) oblige any wrong raise to complete for a normal one (here to 300)! No more forced call ?
(it’s very surprising here in the Europe of long time “5 cards draw” because we feel that the real punishment is to be obliged to call … not to be obliged to raise!!!)
TY

I host a weekly poker tournament and was asked to make a ruling on a few hands over the past few weeks and I was wondering if I made the right decision.
First hand: I wasn’t in the room when it happened so I didn’t see it unfold but from what I was told everything was fine up to the Turn card being put out with only 2 players still in Player A moves all in which covers Player B who immediatly calls and turns over a Full House with the AJ and A A 3 J on the board and Player A thought he was dead so he mucked his cards face down. By my understanding that hand was over right there since his cards were in the muck with the rest of the cards but another player not in the hand had seen his cards so he pulled them back and flipped them showing and Ace saying he still had outs so the dealer burned and turned the River which was a Jack giving him the same full house and wanted to know if he was entiled to half the pot. I ruled that his had was dead and the River card should never have been turned since he had already mucked. Player A was ok with the call since he knows he made the mistake and it was a bad play on his behalf. Was this the right choice or should I have allowed him his winnings since there was no more betting involved.
Second Hand: I was at the table for this one but wasn’t asked to rule on it but was wondering if I should have. Late in the tournament with the blinds relativly high the player first to act after the blinds pushed all in the player after him flat called and the table folded around to the Big Blind who took along time debating on what to do and finally decided to fold and the all in player thought he won the blinds forgetting that someone did call him and he mucked his cards face down with the rest of the cards. Like I said I wasn’t asked what the proper ruling would be the other players informed him that he was called and he recoverd his cards which were not mixed in but were on top of the other mucked cards so he pulled them back and the two players turned over their hands and the all in player won. I was just wondering if I should have stepped in and made a ruling that he mucked his hand and it was dead and basicly knocked him out of the tournament.

Hello,
The final of the first Flemish Poker Challenge is now in the books and I’m glad everything went fine.
I do had one annoying moment and the player involved just can’t let it go so I would like to check it with you guys.
Here ’s what happened:
After a break play restarted and a hand was dealt at one of the tables. There had already been action with a player betting and another player raising (preflop.). Then a player noticed that the button was still at the same place as it was before the break. This meant that 2 players posted their blinds 2 times. My ruling was based on the following idea. If I let the hand continue it started out wrong what to do afterwards…. I figured the blinds would become a mess … and the rounds of blinds(in case that play continued) would become unfair to the players who had to post 2 times. So I ruled a misdeal and players could take back there chips in the pot and we would start a new hand with the button on the right place. The one guy that raised went beserk. He stated the ruling was clearly wrong and that I knew nothing … and so on and so on …. (He had pocket aces I heard afterwards.)
He told me that if there was already action I coudn’t stop the hand … I tought it would be safe to rule a redeal … what could I do to rule better ? Was he right ?

Hello,
The following happened at a pokertournament I was directing.
There was a break up in tables and two players were moved to another table.
This happened under the supervision of 2 chiprunners who move the chips for the players as a security measure.
Player 1 was a shortstack and had about 2000 chips
Player 2 Had an average stack(+/-15000).
Both players were moved to seat 8 and 9 of a new table. Right of seat 9 was the dealer and left to seat 8 was a player with a slightly below average stack. The blinds were 400-800 at that moment.
Some players had removed some chairs for their confort on the table the 2 players were about to sit down. The chiprunners placed the chips of both players infront of them at the table. One chip runner turned around to grab a chair for the player (shortstack, seat 8 ) to sit down when he turned back to the table he noticed the chips were gone. The tournament area is strictly allowed for players and staff only so no other people were in the neighbourhood. The other player seat 9 was getting seated at the same time.
I suspected that players on seat 7 had taken the chips but could prove this. They were not a lot of chips since it was the shortstack so I could notice a difference in his stack. He was suspiciously saying he didn’t do anything but I had no prove. The dealer at the table and the other players didn’t notice anything.
I knew howmuch the shortstack had so I provided him with a equal amount of new tournament chips. (There were no camera’s to prove anything).
Since it didn’t make that much difference for the player who took the chips (max +10% of his stack) I thing that was the best thing to do ?
Any comments about how I handled this situation ? What would you do ?

How do you handle the first card in Holdem or previous cards in Omaha exposed on the dealer button?
I’ve seen the ruling declaring that any card exposed on the button is misdeal.
I’ve also seen the any card previous to the last card exposed on the button is replaced with radom card.

7 players to the flop. Seat one bets everyone but the ten seat gets out. The dealer drops a retrievable stub and awards the pot to the one hole. Once the pot is pushed the one hole turns over their cards. At the same time the ten hole says “I’m still in the hand”. Whats the call?
