Two moving players!

Hello (hope Chicagomike & the other will excuse me for my numerosous questiosn thoses days):
Seat 1 Button - Seat 2 SB - Seat 3 (open) - Seat 4 BB
Player on seat 4 is eliminated on that hand
Seats 3 & 4 are now the only two open seat at this table
Two players are sent from a broken table at thoses places 3 & 4
Dealer made it: Seat 2 button - Seat 3 SB - Seat 4 BB and I defended him under the protests of the two players saying that because the button was on seat 4 it should be now on seat 5 with seat 4 being the SB and seat 3 not playing that hand!
Well … their arguments where quite logical while I defended the dealer on the moment following the TDA rule 24 “Players going from a broken table to fill in seats assume the rights and responsibilities of the position. They can get the big blind, the small blind, or the button. The only place they cannot get a hand is between the small blind and the button” … and I was also protecting the right of seat 2 to play is turn as the button!
Well … I like to study my decisions after the tournament if I have a doubt (& I have a doubt! lol!)?
