Forward Motion?

In a NL Cash Game at our establishment (No Dealers), player A removes chips from his stack, and proceeds to lay the chips on the felt part of the table (we have recetrack style tables), he counts out 4 stacks of chips, then returns his hands to his cards without declaring any action.

Player B took player A’s actions as a bet and proceeded to go “ALL IN”

Player A stated that he had not made a bet yet, and said Player B acted out of turn.

Player B stated that because Player A made a forward motion with his chips, then returned to his cards for a peek, that he in fact had made the bet.

I made a ruling, but before I tell you, I’d like to hear from someone else on how they would rule.

Keep up the great work!

Player bets “Pot” in NL game

No Limit tournanment, player states “I bet pot”.  The TDA rules stipulate the dealer is not allowed to count the pot in No Limit games.  How do you proceed.   I would say count the pot the first time and give the player a warning,  or state that is an invalid bet, and he must state an amount.

Acting out of Turn

Hello,

This is my first post and i have been reading these things for a day!  I would like to pose a hypothetical situation and get others thoughts.

Firstly i have summised the acting out of turn rules and noted a difference in interpretation.

TDA
30 Verbal Declarations - Verbal declarations in turn are binding. Action out of turn may be binding and will be binding if the action to that player has not changed. A check, call, or fold is not considered action changing.

Roberts
10. Deliberately acting out of turn will not be tolerated. A player who checks out of turn may not bet or raise on the next turn to act. An action or verbal declaration out of turn may be ruled binding if there is no bet, call, or raise by an intervening player acting after the infraction has been committed.

NB: In Roberts Rules a ‘call’ is considered action changing.
If in a situation with 3 players - A (6000), B (5600), and C (12000).

A pushes all in. C Declares i will go all in too but out of turn. B decides to push all in as well.

Would you force C to commit to the bet under either of these rules?  Or would you consider the action has changed enough to allow C to reconsider. Given C now faces odds of 3/1 and if the pot is lost would be at a significant chip shortage.

Possible String Bet Situation, your opinions Please

NLH

Blinds 3000/6000, Pre flop

Player moves forward with a stack of chips and begins counting them without saying anything.  In the process, someone asks what they are doing. They say raising.  They have 10,000 total.  Player then reaches back to complete the raise and the player who asked says they cannot do that because it is a string raise.  I allowed the raise stating that the player had made forward motion with more than 50% of the minimum raise and was therefore required to complete the raise.  Right or wrong?

Min. Bet when there’s an all-in for less than min ahead of you

Hi all. Hope someone can claify this situation for me.
Final table. Blinds are SB $2000 BB $4000. No raise preflop, 2 players limp, SB calls BB Checks.
After flop SB checks. BB goes all in for $3000. Here’s my question.
The next player calls, does he have to put in the $3000 or $4000?
There would have been 2 players still to act after this . He was made to put in $4000 then was given $1000 back when the other two folded. Was this correct?

Thanks in advance

Is it an advantage or not?

Cash game. Player take a seat immediately after the big blind and post a live blind. We had  a few confusion about when is his turn to act, will it be immediately after the big blind or should we skip him and ask him the last to act. IMO thinking that we should follow the normal turn but recently had some discusion about entering in the game and possible advantage of that player position.

Next  question is how many live straddle bets is allowed and optional in game. What if someone objects about placement of 4 or more live straddle bets.

How do you rule on these WSOP verbal situations?

Watched the 2008 WSOP 1st day this evening and saw a couple interesting situations involving no less than 2 champions… how would you rule here?

1) JOE HACHEM. Joe is contemplating a bet on the river that’s been checked to him. He’s got a good but not great hand and by rights can think he’s best here… so he starts mumbling… [paraphrasing]  ”I don’t feel good about this…. I think I have the best hand…. I’m just not sure…. I have to bet…. I’m just not sure… ” Hachem doesn’t make a bet right off at that point, continues to contemplate his situation…

How do you rule at that point, has he committed to a bet or does this verbal rambling leave him an out?

 2) JERRY YANG. Yang has a fair hand but there’s a large bet to him. After a bit he starts mumbling… “…I can’t believe I’m laying this down…” but he doesn’t release his cards, just sits there contemplating….

How do you rule at this point ?

Too many chips

In a NLH with $10/$20 blinds :

Player

A          B          C          D          E

10        20        40        60        100

SB        BB

Scenario 1: if Player E puts in one $100 chip without verbal declaration, is it a call or a raise?

Scenario 2: if Player E puts in two $50 chips without verbal declaration, is it a call or a raise?

In Scenario 1, it is a call because of the oversized chip rule. But in scenario 2, that is already a $100 raise because there are two $50 chips thrown on the table.

What are your opinions on these scenarios?

Ultimate folding a winning hand case.

Hello,

Let’s try to find a “regular” solution about this kind of case (knowing we will allways have to make special decisions):

NLH tournament - 5 players at the turn - pot 700 - player A goes all-in for 500 - B, C & D folds - A (forgetting E) throws his cards faces down in the middle - the dealer reach it quickly before it touch anything (to save it & give it back to A) while E is saying “I call” and push his chips in the middle - E pretend that A folded & ask for the floor … E made absoluely nothing meaning a fold befora A made his mistake … for information : A has the winning hand at 100% (E is drawing dead) …

For me the important point is that A is all-in (if not it would be more simple) … but I hate to have a player eliminated on a stupid error … anyway I’m ready to listen for some of your straight opinion with respect & apply it: should the players be protected or put into their responsabilities of adults … this is the real question!).

Your opinion ?
