Hi Guys,
been an avid reader of this blog for quite some time and thought I should post a couple of questions that I have run into over the last couple of months.
Guy in middle position declares All-In and places his remaining chips (about 10 pieces) on top of his cards and moves them towards the middle over the betting line. Guy on the Dealer button calls, Big-Blind calls as well, both have more chips. The bets are collected and the flop is layed out. While BB considers his options, suddenly the person all-in says: “Where are my cards?” The dealer realizes he has mucked the cards, because they layed on the wrong side of the betting line.
How would you rule?
Somebody on the table folds his cards so strongly, they fly into the cards of another player. The dealer cannot identify whoch cards where folded.
What is your ruling?
Somebody is playing aroung with his chips, holding a large amount in his hand. Suddenly he drops the chips in his hand and the fall into the stack of his neighbor. It is not possible to identify which chips belong to which player.
What should the TD do?
Thanks,
Denis

Tournament.Player A raise preflop 4000 chips on blinds 1000-2000. Only one player calls. The flop come out A,Q,4 and player A goes all-in 13 000. At the moment no floor or TD is present, and player B says that he is not folding and opens his cards holding AK. Player A makes a facial expression like : a great hand, a strong one. Immediately after that Player B says I call, but few other players objects and there is a bit confusion for dealer is that call by the rule and A opens his cards holding AQ. How to solve this situation?

During a no limit cash game I was asked to see a folded hand. The request came from a 2 players not invoved in the hand. I ruled that since they were not in the hand they could not ask to see the other players cards. After my ruling the other player left in the hand asked to see the cards to which I agreed. Afterward one of the original requesters stated that the rules had changed recently and I should verify whether my ruling was correct. Since I have not heard and can not find anything anywhere else I would appreciate any input. Thank You.

This has happened in cash game.Player A is all in on the flop and there is a two calls from B nad C.On turn B bets 100 euro and C raise 100.B calls and on the river B bets 100 again,C raise 400 and B fold. The flop is :A,2,4 turn is 5 and river is 8.When B folds C throw his cards in front of him but over the line and and one cards hit the burn cards but on the top of the burn cards, not mixed. After that player A asks for a fold and in moment dealer is telling the C that there is an another player in game and C says that he has not seen the player A cards because he did cover his cards with the money wanted to change in chips.First card that is in front of him C turns an it is a 3 and then the dealer turns the other card which is an 7.Still A wants to be declared as a fold and he refuse to open his cards.Inspector has decided after a video check and after a long talking and trying to split the main pot between two of the them, and A still insisting on fold and C waiting for a decision that is a fold and gave the pot to player A.Player C says that he has not seen his cards and that he has no reason to fold.
My opinion is that I will not give the pot to player A and ask for him to show the cards and if it is a winning hand than it is ok.I would like you an opinion of what would be a good decision.

I know you will think: “what a big mess” but this situation really happened in a big club (used to host the WPT): the “Aviation Club de France” and during the “Grand Prix de Paris” (link here : http://www.aviationclubdefrance.com/home_uk.html).
OK to make it simple: after a Break they close a table … player A (with 25000) find a ticket sending him to a new place with 50000 … A just seats & start playing … he plays 4 hands during wich he eliminate player X (famous) wich had let’s say 40000 … player A have now 90000 … then player B is coming back (late but it’s his right) from the break and claim for this seat (in fact the organisators really made a mistake with the ticket of A: he should never have been moved to this 50000 place wich really was the place of B) … the three players (together with X) call for the floor (poor man lol) … after half an hour of decisions: PLAYER X IS DECLARED ELIMINATED (I agree) - PLAYERS A&B ARE SENT TO THEIR ORIGINAL SEATS (25000 & 50000) but on TV nobody understood what became the 40000 of benefits … we understood it was divided between A & B (???) … On my opinion: I WOULD HAVE RETIRED THE 40000 FROM THE TOURNAMENT (X would be eliminated but A could’nt get profit from a move made with another one’s stack!)!
Any idea?

I would like to know how this situation would be handled.
Pot has been shipped to a player and before the next hand is dealt, the dealer realizes that there was a brown card in the green deck…hence making there a total of 53 cards in the deck.
The dealer obviously calls the floor, what is your ruling?
Same question if a player has a pair of suited 5’s, wins the pot then exposes them? Same answer?

It looks as though two of the most respected tournament directors have changed their rules on “show one show both”. Jack Effel of WSOP has apperently listened to the players commitie and done away with this rule. Jack McCelland of Bellagio recently at the WPT championship put the rule to a player vote. Overwhelming the players voted to do away with this overenforced rule. This rule had good intentions, but was certianly ineffective in avoiding needleing. I am glad to see directors listening to players, after all without players those running tournaments have no jobs.

I don’t remember if someone told about that before in the blog…
During last September WSOP-E, in the Empire Casino, a player on the left of Annette_15 steals one of her chip that she pushes accidentally when applausing a great call against Kenny Tran.
You can see it around 2′30 in this video :
So, what is the possible penalty to give to the stealer ?
Is it possible to give back the chip to Annette_15 at this time ? Who could say exactly which value was the stolen chips ?

Final 4 of a tourney. I’m basically tied for 3rd/4th with 3 Big Blinds. 1st and 2nd have us way out chipped. The other short stack asked me between hands if i want to make a deal (deal-making in the money is legal here). He suggests that assuming we both finish in 3rd and 4th that we chop the 3rd/4th money considering it was going to be a toss up as to who went out 1st. Seemed reasonable to me, so I agreed. The other 2 players objected that this was collusion because we were know essentially freerolling for a chance at 2nd, we had nothing to lose. They argued that our deal changed the way we would play the game and we were in a sense teaming up against them. I argued that we could cut whatever deal we wanted and we were not colluding in any way during the action of a hand. Was this kind of deal unethical? Could it be called collusion? The spirit of the deal was to chop the money that both of us were most likely going to get for 3rd/4th, but i do understand that it did give us the ability to simply push with our short stacks trying to double up move closer the 2nd place. While this is true I still don’t think it was unethical. Thoughts?

Rule 7 specifies that soft-play will be penalized and indicates the penalties available are a warning, missed hand penalties, and disqualification.
Rule 33 on the other hand also addresses soft-play and indicates that chip-forfeiture may be the penalty.
If by chip forfeiture they mean the chips are removed from play that is one thing, but if they mean that you give the chips to the player you were softplaying that makes no sense.
Any on have any thoughts on this. I’m inclined to think that its an oversight and that the intended penalties are those listed in rule 7.
